US: A team of researchers has outlined a new method for recycling carbonated concrete wash water in a patent application. News Rx has reported that the method involves adding concrete wash water along with concrete ingredients and mix water into a mixer. The carbonated concrete wash water may comprise 10 – 40% of total mix water. The inventors claim that the resulting concrete increased in strength by 5% compared with conventional ordinary Portland cement (OPC) concrete, and also reduced the required cement use by up to 5%.
