Mexico: Holcim México’s Blancas Mariposas batching plant in Paraíso, Tabasco, has been operating as the world’s first 100% female-operated ready-mix concrete plant, under a team of 12 women. In the first half of 2026, the plant recorded an earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin among the highest across the company’s concrete business and 14% above budget. Holcim México said that the result shows that female-operated batching plants can enhance business competitiveness. It plans to replicate the model across other sites.

Holcim México is committed to achieving 30% women in leadership positions by 2030. Its Mexican Construction School has already achieved 24% women across its 40,000 trainees to date, against 16% industry-wide in Mexican construction. Other on-going initiatives to target areas of underrepresentation include the Women Behind the Wheel mixer trucks and forklifts driver training programme.
