UK: The Sizewell C nuclear power plant project in Suffolk has secured planning permission for an expansion to the Avonmouth precast concrete at the Port of Bristol. Construction News has reported that the expanded plant will produce 38,500 precast concrete segments for use in construction of the upcoming nuclear power station's three marine tunnels. Production is scheduled to commence in 2028.
Sizewell C project CEO Nigel Cann said “Manufacturing our precast concrete components off-site and delivering them by rail and sea benefits our host community, with less construction traffic on local roads.”
